  • Is everything okay?
  • How can I become more popular?
  • What’s new?
  • I’m bored, let’s make some noise

None of these are new, but in the digital world, they’re still magnetic.

Also, if you carefully look at items 1) and 3), you might take away a lesson for your own follow-back policy on Twitter:

While it might work for some (celebrities, semi-celebrities, or others trying to build up a “The Powerbroker” archetype), in general I would hold that not following back legitimate followers with a minimum of “fit” undercuts at least 2 of the 5 pillars.

While Twitter clearly was designed for allowing these “asymmetric relationships”, maybe it’s not the best idea to start a presumably SOCIAL (context) undertaking with a “talk to the hand” move. Just sayin’…
